Some astronauts in a ship that is about to crash into a space body of some sort. I wanted the lyrics to read like what someone might actually say or think as this was going on. I wanted the song to show that even in the worst of situations, we can still reach out to God, and He will still be with us. I also hoped the song would help to demonstrate the difference between earthly goals, and the goals that really matter ("They will say our mission failed. But only for them.")

LYRICS:

From the abyss, in the abyss, so far from Earth
It's all over - the stars are soaring by faster
We are so close to destruction
How did it end this way?
It all began with a simple mission

Didn't we take every precaution? Isn't there anything we can do?
Can we just stand here, stuck in this encroaching room?

The room's getting hotter, the walls are glowing red
The system is failing, we lost control of the ship
And the room is shaking.
The roar of the ship gets so loud.

What is left to do?
Can anyone help us now?
Ground control can't hear us...
A strange peace comes over me.

Jesus, we thought we were so close to Heaven
We thought we could conquer the sky above us
Only now do we realize how far we really were.

The roar of the ship gets so quiet here in my thoughts.
You are the only way out...
Our lives are Yours.

Resigned to this worldly destruction
My soul finally purified

The room glows red hot
The ship reaches so close to the flame
They will say our mission failed.
But only for them. For us...
We have reached the new frontier.
